Midnight Madness
----------------------------------------------------
April 17th 2006 was the last day to file 2005 tax returns to avoid penalties.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Central Valley, Inc. joined our
partners, McDonald’s of the Central Valley, the IRS/VITA program,
United States Postal Services and Duncan Polytechnical High School volunteers
to provide FREE tax assistances to last minute tax payers.
The day started with a live broadcast with NBC KSEE 24 Sunrise morning
news program from 5-7 AM at McDonald Restaurant at Blackstone & Bullard.
At 5:00 PM the California State University, Fresno Marching Band Ensemble
kicked off the event, and the IRS/VITA group set up office in the McDonald
Restaurant from 5-10 PM.
McDonald’s at Blackstone & Bullard donated 25¢ from every
Egg McMuffin Extra Value Meal sold from 5-10:30 AM and 25¢ from every
Big Mac Extra Value Meal sold from 5-10 PM during this event to support
their local Ronald McDonald House.
CBS 47 On Your Side covered the evening portion of the event.
The evening came to a close at 10:45 PM with the United State Postal Service
picking up all mail and 2005 tax returns. By the end of the evening the
IRS had processed 49 tax returns at this McDonald’s location.
This event was a great vehicle for us to tell our story and
build awareness about our need to expand.
