Bowman from Fountain Valley, California Winner of the 2005 Car Giveaway :
Thanks To All Who Participated In This Year's
Rockin "Beach Party"!
------------------------------------------------
On Saturday, September 17th, 2005, the Ronald McDonald House was
transformed into the largest Beach Party to ever hit Madera. At
5:00 pm, the party started and hundreds of “beach bums”
swarmed the Ronald McDonald House in their shorts, Hawaiian Shirts
and sandals ready to dance the night away. Guests had a chance to
bid on live, silent and dessert auction items, dance and view the
classic car show with over 45 cars. At one point, a yellow Corvette
drove in and brought with it a very special guest, Ronald McDonald
himself! He mingled with guests and even handed out free cheeseburger
cards. Partygoers also had the chance to have a caricature done,
take pictures by an actual Woody Wagon or get a massage.
At about 7:30 pm dinner was served, and included chicken, tri-tip,
rolls, spicy green beans and potatoes prepared by Anthony’s
catering and served by 40 hard working volunteers from Bank of the
Sierra. As the evening went on, guests had a chance to meet a past
resident at the Ronald McDonald House: Rachel Roberts, also known
as “Baby Gorilla.” Her father, Hayes Roberts, told the
captivated audience about their experience at the Ronald McDonald
House and what the House meant to them and Rachel even said a few
words to the guests!
Near the close of the evening, a secret was let out. The Ronald
McDonald House Charities is embarking upon a 3 year Comprehensive
Capital Campaign to expand the House. The need for a “home
away from home” is constantly growing and the Ronald McDonald
House is in need of expansion. Patty Manfredi, Executive Director,
along with Ronald McDonald announced this secret to the guests as
balloons filled the air and party poppers went off with a bang!
Hold on to your hats, because… Here We Grow Again!
The highlight of the evening was when the winning ticket for the
1967 Corvette was pulled from a bin full of tickets. The lucky winner
was Pat Bowman of Fountain Valley, California…Congratulations
Pat!
Once
the winner was announced, next year’s classic car was brought
out and showcased for all of the guests. The car is a 2005 Ford
GT 40 valued at $152,444.95!!! We would like to say thank you to
all of our sponsors and volunteers for helping us make the this
year’s Rockin’ with Ronald event such a huge success.
We hope to see you all next year at “Rockin’ with Ronald:
