Since the new house was built. What brought you to the Ronald McDonald House? In honor of my mother, I wanted to do something in her name after she passed away at age ninety-seven. What do you enjoy most about volunteering at the House? It is gratifying to know I can help. What are you most proud of as a volunteer? The hope that I am doing something special. What's one thing that the staff and other volunteers at RMHC don’t know about you? That I was once a history teacher. Favorite Food? Anything with rice Favorite color? I wanted to experience a chance to volunteer here at the Ronald McDonald House What do you enjoy most about volunteering at the House? Being around the people who work at the house. What are you most proud of as a volunteer? Helping the people around me who need my help. What's one thing that the staff and other volunteers at RMHC don’t know about you? I enjoy meeting new people and helping “Deasy,” the weekend cleaning person. What are you most proud of as a volunteer? Answering phones and cleaning the house. What do you enjoy most about volunteering at the House? I enjoy working with the employees and being one of the McDonaldland Characters. What are you most proud of as a volunteer? I am proud of the money I helped raised from the awareness bracelets? What's one thing that the staff and other volunteers at RMHC don’t know about you? My best friend’s granddaughter spent several months at Children’s Hospital for rehabilitation. What do you enjoy most about volunteering at the House? I most enjoy seeing the wonderful, giving service of the people who work and volunteer at RMHC. What are you most proud of as a volunteer? I feel privileged to be a very small part of what is done to help children and their families at RMHC and VCH. What's one thing that the staff and other volunteers at RMHC don’t know about you? They do not know what a “Missourian-at-heart” (the “show-me” state) I am. Favorite Food? Watermelon Favorite color? May 2006 ----------------------------------------- Name: Judy Schilling Volunteer position/schedule time: Front Desk/ Tuesdays & Thursdays How long have you volunteered at the RMHC? 2 months. What brought you to the Ronald McDonald House? I retired from public health nursing and wanted to volunteer where I could continue to contribute to the health of children and offer support to families. What do you enjoy most about volunteering at the House? Meeting families and assisting the staff in meeting the family’s needs in a peaceful home setting. I always look forward to working with the staff—my new friends! What are you most proud of as a volunteer? I am proud in my small role to be part of the McDonald’s family. My son, Chris, works in McDonald’s Oakbrook office and he has often discussed with me the social responsibility of McDonald’s all over the world. What's one thing that the staff and other volunteers at RMHC don’t know about you? Others might be surprised to know that I made nursing home visits alone in a neighborhood that police go with backup! Favorite Food? Fondue Favorite color?
